I am getting an error message when trying to apply a discount to an invoice in BUSY. How can I fix this issue and apply the discount successfully? 

For error while applying discount:
 Step 1 : Check invoice details
 Step 2 : Discount type
 Step 3 : Discount field
 Step 4 : User rights

Why is the item rate showing an average of all items instead of the actual rate per item in the invoice? How can I fix this? 

Please let us know which report you are going through. Further you can check item master and recheck the tax rate you have mentioned in it.

What is the difference between minimum level and minimum quantity for an item? Do I need to select both for adequate warning about low stock? 

In BUSY, Minimum Level and Minimum Quantity are not the different, they are same as in item master under critical level Minimum Level (Qty) option available.

I want to open a new party in a different city while keeping my existing party active. Is this possible in BUSY? 

Yes you can add new master for that party with different city But not with same name if any existing party master exist in BUSY data

How do I differentiate between my regular stock and fire stock in my accounting software if I want them to look different? 

You can differentiate between regular stock and fire stock in BUSY  by creating separate stock groups for each type and assigning different material centre .

I'm trying to update the opening balance but nothing happens when I press Alt-M. What am I doing wrong? 

Put cursor on master then press alt+m and update opening balance.
Note - If your company has only one year then you can update the opening balance.

I changed an item name in BUSY. Do I have to manually change it everywhere before carrying forward masters? 

If you change the name of the item, it gets changed everywhere itself you do not need to change it manually before carrying forward the master
