Step 2: Check the backup settings and make sure you have selected the correct company, folder, and drive to backup. You can also choose to create multiple copies of backup (date-wise) and retain them for up to 99 days.
Step 3: Verify the backup file after creating it and test it by restoring it on another system.

I am getting an error that says "backup unsuccessful." What does this mean and how can I fix it?

 The error message backup unsuccessful means that the backup process was not completed successfully. To fix this issue, you can try the following steps:

 Yes, before updating the BUSY version or SQL, it is necessary to take a backup. You can follow these steps:
Step 1: Open BUSY Software
Step 2: Backup data
Step 3: Select Company
Step 4: Login with credential
Step 5: Choose the location where you want to save the backup file.
Step 6: Select the financial year to take backup [e.g. All, Fy 2022-23, 2023-24 etc]
Step 7: OK
Please note that instead of taking a backup of the company, you can also copy the SQL Data folder by following these steps:
Step 1: Stop the SQL services from the SQL Configuration Manager.
Step 2: Navigate to the "C" drive, then "Program Files," and locate "Microsoft SQL Server."
Step 3: Inside "Microsoft SQL Server," select the folder with a name like "MSSQL12.SQL2014."
Step 4: Inside "MSSQL," copy the "Data" folder.
Step 5: Paste this folder into another location.
Step 6: After SQL reinstallation, you can attach these backup files using SQL Management Studio.

Is taking backup is important and how to take backup and restore it in BUSY?

 Yes it is important to take regular backup to prevent data loss or corruption in case of any issues or errors in your data, However here are the steps for taking data backup and restore it in BUSY:
Step 1: Open BUSY Software and go to company menu
Step 2: Then click on backup data option and then select particular company and specify user name and password if required
Step 3: Now specify path where you want to take backup by browsing there and then select All financial year or one financial year as per your requirement
Step 4: Then click on Ok and it will take few minutes to take backup and after completing the process a confirmation message will appear on the screen.
Step 5: After that open BUSY then go to company menu
Step 6: Now select restore data option and specify data path for restoration of backup files
Step 7: Then press ok to the restore company.

My data backup does not seem to contain all the required information. How can I take a proper backup before reinstalling the software?

 For taking a proper backup before reinstalling the software please follow steps below:
Step 1: Open BUSY and go to Company menu.
Step 2: Click on the tab Backup data.
Step 3: Select the Company and enter super user name and password if any.
Step 4: Specify folder path where you require to take the backup.
Step 5: Select all financial year and click on ok button.
Step 6: Once the backup is done, a message will show on the screen of the BUSY that the backup is successful.
Step 7: After taking the backup, verify that the files are complete and accessible. It's important to ensure that the backup is not corrupted and contains all the necessary information.
Further, you can Copy the Data folder directly from where you are accessing the data and paste the same at another location as a copy.
Note: Please make sure that while copying the data folder the company must be closed.

I want to take a backup before updating BUSY. How do I take a proper backup of the software?

 To take a proper backup of the BUSY software before updating, you need to follow the below steps:
Step 1: Close the company from all sides before taking backup.
Step 2: Then check its licence to see in which mode, in multi user mode, and in SQL EC mode.
Step 3: Then come on its server PC and take back from the server PC before updating BUSY, because at the time of updating BUSY, you need to update first on the server PC.
Step 4: After coming on the server PC, go to the company menu, then go to the backup data option, select the particular company, select the backup folder path, and take the backup by following the relevant steps.
Step 5: After completing the backup, show the backup completed successfully and go to the specified folder to ensure the folder of the backup.
Step 6: This will ensure that your data is safely backed up before the update.

How can I take backup of data and restore it in BUSY?What kind of transaction do I need to mention for BC transactions on BUSY?

 If you want to create backup and restore it in BUSY so you have to follow below steps:
Step 1: Go to Company menu then select backup data.
Step 2: Then select the company and enter user credentials if prompt.
Step 3: Select data backup path or folder where you to take your backup.
Step 4: Then Select Financial Year for the backup and press OK. Your backup will be taken.
Step 5: Then go to restore data and select the backup folder or mention it;s path and then press OK. Your data will be restored and reflect in company list.
B2C stands for Business to customer which means the customers which are not registered under GST regime.
You need to upload the transactions which are not eligible for e invoicing or which do not have GSTIN number. So their transactions will automatically reflect in your GST returns B2C section.

My data crashed, how can I restore backup in BUSY?

 To restore backup in BUSY kindly follow below steps:
Step 1: Find the latest in the system or google drive
Step 2: Copy the crashed/currupted data in a different folder as precaution
Step 3: To restore the data click on Company Menu and select Restore Data
Step 4: Copy the path of the data in Path for restoration text box
Step 5: Press OK and select company name and year which you want to proceed
Step 6: If you want to overwrite previous data click on yes else select no
Step 7: If you selected not to overwrite you will get the restored data a diferent company code
Note: If still not able to solve, you may send the corrupted/crashed data to support@busy.in with your company name, serial number, user id and password and GST number. BUSY's Tech team will try to restore the data. Its a paid service.

How many days of backup data are retained by default in BUSY?

 BUSY does not store your data, you can find it on your system location which you have defined in data directory. BUSY provides an utility named as BUSY AGENT, which help to take regular backup of your data as per the schedule sets. To use BUSY AGENT follow below steps:
Step 1: Download utility from busy.in or you can find setup in BUSY after its lanch click on download BUSY agent
Step 2: Install the utility setup in the same location where your BUSY has been installed
Step 3: Launch BUSY agent utility and set General configuration
Step 4: Provides location where you want to keep backup in your location drive as well as in google drive also
Step 5: Set the schedule and companies for whom you want to take backup
Step 6: Set the application as Add to startup, so that utility will runs in backup and executive its function properly
