Who needs it

GST TDS deductors (GSTR 7). E-commerce operators collecting TCS (GSTR 8).

Example

GSTR 7: You pay a contractor ₹1,00,000 for work and deduct 2% GST TDS. You deposit ₹2,000 and report it in GSTR 7. GSTR 8: Your platform helps sellers sell goods worth ₹10,00,000 in Feb. After returns, net taxable supplies are ₹8,00,000. TCS is calculated and reported in GSTR 8.

Date

11 Mar (Wed)

What is due

GSTR 1 (Monthly) for Feb 2026

Who needs it

Monthly filers

Example

You issued 120 invoices in Feb. Before filing, you spot one invoice with the wrong GST rate and one credit note for a return. You correct them first, then upload. This avoids wrong liability later.

Date

13 Mar (Fri)

What is due

IFF for QRMP (Optional) for Feb 2026

Who needs it

QRMP taxpayers who want B2B invoices visible to buyers early

Example

You are on QRMP, but you sold to a registered customer in Feb who needs ITC quickly. You upload only those B2B invoices in IFF so the buyer can see them early, rather than waiting until quarter-end.

Date

13 Mar (Fri)

What is due

GSTR 6 for Feb 2026

Who needs it

Input Service Distributors (ISD)

Example

The head office receives a software invoice with GST of ₹18,000 and distributes it to 3 branches, ₹6,000 each, based on usage. This distribution is reported in GSTR 6.

Date

20 Mar (Fri)

What is due

GSTR 3B (Monthly) for Feb 2026

Who needs it

Monthly filers

Example

Your Feb taxable sales are ₹12,00,000 at 18%. Output GST is ₹2,16,000. Your eligible ITC as per the books and 2B match is ₹1,40,000. You pay the balance of ₹76,000 in 3B.

Date

20 Mar (Fri)

What is due

GSTR 5 and GSTR 5A for Feb 2026

Who needs it

Non-resident taxable persons and OIDAR service providers

Example

A non-resident business registered for a short project in India must report outward supplies and pay tax through GSTR 5 for Feb.

Date

25 Mar (Wed)

What is due

PMT 06 payment for Feb 2026

Who needs it

QRMP taxpayers

Example

You are under QRMP and Feb tax after ITC is around ₹35,000. You pay this via PMT 06 by 25 March, so your quarter-end filing does not become a payment shock.

Date

31 Mar (Tue)

What is due

CMP 02 if opting for Composition from 1 Apr 2026

Who needs it

Eligible taxpayers choosing Composition for FY 2026–27

Example

You currently charge GST and claim ITC. If you move to Composition, you stop charging GST on invoices, and you cannot claim ITC. This impacts pricing, margins, and customer expectations.

Date

31 Mar (Tue)

What is due

GSTR 11

Who needs it

UIN holders claiming a refund

Example

A notified organisation with UIN buys taxable goods and claims GST refund using GSTR 11, if applicable.

A week-by-week Plan You Can Use for March GST Filings

Week 1. (Date: 1 to 7 March)

Most businesses should lock February records early to avoid last week's confusion.

  • Freeze February sales and purchase entries in your books.
  • Collect missing supplier invoices now.

Week 2.  (Date: 8 to 14 March)

This week must be best spent finishing outward supply work before moving to ITC and payments.

  • If you need GSTR 7 or 8, reconcile it by 9 March itself.
  • File monthly GSTR 1 by 11 March.
  • If you are on QRMP, use IFF only if your buyers really need it.

Week 3 (Date: 15 to 21 March)

At this time businesses should reconcile ITC properly before filing and paying through GSTR 3B.

  • Reconcile the purchase register with ITC availability before you pay tax.
  • Make a quick list of mismatches, such as missing invoices, wrong GSTIN, incorrect place of supply, or duplicate entries.

Week 4 (Date: 22 to 31 March)

The last week should be kept for QRMP payments and year-end decisions.

  • QRMP taxpayers should plan the PMT 06 payment by 25 March.
  • Check whether you want Composition from April, then file CMP 02 if you are switching.

Close year with clean records and try not to leave credit notes , debit notes, or stock adjustments until the last day.

Quick Checklist Before Filing GST in March

  • Confirm the correct return and month.
  • Export the latest Feb sales and purchase data.
  • Check gaps in invoice series and cancelled invoices.
  • Verify GSTIN for key B2B invoices.
  • Review credit notes and debit notes.
  • Match ITC in books with GSTR 2B and note missing invoices.
  • Identify reverse charge items and keep cash ready for them.
  • Check the cash and credit ledger balance before payment.
  • Save the challan, ARN, and return copy after filing.
